COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Protests honoring nurse Alex Pretti are scheduled across Florida this week; in St. Augustine, a vigil will be held next Saturday at 3 p.m. (75 King Street) as part of a series of local community events.  The St. Augustine Record
  • February will offer a wide array of community events in St. Augustine, from open-air film nights and historic art walks to free legal classes and outdoor activities at local landmarks (including jazz shows and archery events). BUSINESS NEWS

  • Ashley Furniture opened its first showroom on Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 1762 Tree Blvd. The 21,000 sqft space, operated by 1915 South, offers a wide range of home furnishings including bedroom, dining, and mattress collections.  The St. Augustine Record
  • Florida Goodwill stores hit record sales in 2025 as rising prices prompt residents to shop for bargains. The nationwide chain earned over $7B in revenue and operates more than 300 local sites (providing affordable options) amid a tough economy.  The St. Augustine Record

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A free 18 week music enrichment program for grades 3 to 5 is running at W.E. Harris Community Center, American Legion Post 194, and Ketterlinus Elementary School through May 20, offering one hour weekly sessions with board certified music therapists who boost social, emotional, and communication skills + self expression.  The St. Augustine Record

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • St. Johns County will host its annual Valentine’s Day group wedding & vow renewal ceremony on Feb. 13 at the Carriage House on San Marco Ave; 50 couples must register online by Feb. 9 and pay $30 per couple along with obtaining a marriage license.  The St. Augustine Record
