COMMUNITY NEWS

  • United Launch Alliance’s Vulcan rocket will launch from Cape Canaveral at 3:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026 — residents in St. Augustine may see a bright display if weather permits.  The St. Augustine Record

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Forecasts show that La Niña is weakening as conditions become neutral this spring — models predict a shift to El Niño by mid-summer, which may steer more southerly storm tracks toward our region. Local weather patterns could see changes in seasons to come.  First Coast News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Social Security retirement benefits are scheduled to arrive today, Feb. 11 (for birthdays 1 to 10), or on Feb. 18 and Feb. 25 for later birthdays. SSI payments were issued on Jan. 30 and March checks are set for Feb. 27, with a 2.8% COLA raising benefits.  The St. Augustine Record

HEALTH NEWS

  • Florida health officials reported rising measles cases amid data variations; one confirmed case appeared in St. Johns County and additional tests remain pending, urging residents to get vaccinated.  The St. Augustine Record
  • The Florida Department of Health found glyphosate in six out of eight breads tested on Feb. 10, with Sara Lee and Nature's Own brands showing the highest levels. Gov. Ron DeSantis said the agency will continue testing foods so Floridians can make informed choices.  The St. Augustine Record

  • Conde Nast Traveler's report released yesterday named Pensacola Beach as the best beach in the nation and included three other Florida beaches in the top 15; St. Augustine Beach ranked 14th among spots celebrated by over 750,000 voters for fun and adventure.  The St. Augustine Record
