- ➤ St. Augustine Amphitheatre kicked off its 2026 music season with weekend shows by Styx, Cheap Trick, and Rod Stewart, and more concerts featuring Bret Michaels on March 8 and MercyMe on March 15 will follow through mid-April + the venue will also host free community events like the Farmers Market and Night Market. - ➤ iDigStAug is a new digital project that lets residents explore over one million artifacts from local archives today. The online tool, funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities and led by local historians (including Kathleen Deagan), supports research and classroom learning about our colonial past. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ On Thursday, Mar. 5, fuel prices rose for the third day in a row at gas stations in Port Orange, Ormond Beach, and Palm Coast, with the 7-Eleven in Port Orange raising its regular gas price from $3.29 to $3.49 a gallon (a 20-cent increase). The St. Augustine Record
- ➤ On Thursday morning, Florida saw regular gasoline rise by 5.1 cents to $3.241 a gallon and diesel reach $4.233 a gallon amid sharp increases earlier this week due to the Iran conflict disrupting oil shipments; economists expect prices may ease if the situation stabilizes. - ➤ On March 4, a SpaceX Falcon 9 launched 29 Starlink satellites from Cape Canaveral, leaving a rare glowing noctilucent cloud resembling a jellyfish before sunrise visible across the region (meteorologists called the display breathtaking). The St. Augustine Record
- ➤ Hummingbirds started their spring migration with ruby-throated birds already seen in local gardens on March 5. Residents may attract more by planting brightly colored tubular flowers or setting up feeders now & using homemade nectar. The St. Augustine Record

- ➤ St. Johns County Sheriff Hardwick launched an aggressive e-bike enforcement campaign after five serious crashes hurt children last summer. The effort includes dedicated enforcement codes, 250 stops since May 2025, mandatory safety classes for middle schoolers, and a planned town hall (near Patriot Oaks) to address community concerns.
