- ➤ Today the Florida Senate proposed a bill to track Family Empowerment Scholarship funds so that state money follows students and helps public schools avoid budget gaps. The bill would require a Florida Education Identification number, limit open enrollment to twice a year, and require background checks—steps aimed at improving the program's sustainability. - ➤ On Wednesday, the Florida House passed a bill to repeal the 'Free Kill' law that kept families from suing for medical negligence—a vote of 104—6 came after years of advocacy by affected families including St. Johns County residents Cindy Jenkins and Sabrina Davis. The bill now heads to the state Senate for a vote that could happen as early as next week before moving to Governor Ron DeSantis for his signature so it will take effect on July 1. First Coast News
