ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Colorado State University meteorologists predict a somewhat below-normal hurricane season for Florida, which will begin on June 1 and continue until November 30, with potential impacts from El Niño (which can weaken storms) causing uncertainty in the forecast. The St. Augustine Record
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Local hunters can apply for alligator tags starting May 8 as Florida’s statewide hunt runs from Aug. 15 to Nov. 8—permits allow two alligators and cost differently for residents and non-residents. The St. Augustine Record
- ➤ Floridians filing taxes are experiencing refund delays due to errors, paper returns, or extra checks for credits, and the IRS recommends using its Where’s My Refund tool for daily updates. The tax deadline will be Wednesday, Apr. 15 and paper returns may take six-to-eight weeks for processing. The St. Augustine Record
