Visit Florida and Emergent Media have launched a seven-part docuseries called America 250: A Portrait of Florida that spotlights historic sites like St. Augustine & Cape Canaveral; four episodes are online and three will debut in May and June ahead of July 4.

On May 15, the National Hurricane Center will resume daily tropical outlooks with four reports issued until Nov.

30, highlighting any tropical disturbances that may develop as the season nears. Locals can expect timely updates on Atlantic basin conditions.

Research from Colorado State University shows that during strong El Niño years only three hurricanes have hit Florida, while the threat remains.

The Climate Prediction Center will update its forecast today (models suggest a super El Niño could form) to help locals prepare for any storm changes.
