- ➤ Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a law on June 20 that bans weather modification and geoengineering and will take effect July 1—airport operators must start monthly reports by Oct. 1 and face fines up to $100,000 or jail time for unauthorized activities. The St. Augustine Record
- ➤ St. Johns County Sheriff Robert Hardwick said he stopped posting booking mug shots on the jail website last year—citing a rise in scams and ID fraud—as B.J. Kaladi challenged the change on June 17th at a County Commission meeting, saying it risks public safety. Hardwick said his decision protects inmates and their families while letting detectives focus on more serious crimes. The St. Augustine Record

- ➤ The Lightning Safety Council warned residents that if they can hear thunder they must go indoors immediately because lightning can strike more than 10 miles away, as a Colorado man was struck on June 20 in New Smyrna Beach.
