GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of St. Augustine filed eminent domain lawsuits against two homeowners to build a seawall along Lake Maria Sanchez as part of its Stormwater Master Plan to protect historic structures and 200 acres from flooding—negotiations had stalled until now. City Attorney Isabelle Lopez said the city will use a Quick Take request to expedite land transfer—engineers are finalizing the design for the project.  The St. Augustine Record
  • Operation Dry Water will run from July 4-6 to reduce boating incidents by increasing patrols and removing impaired operators—law enforcement agencies including the Coast Guard and the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office will work together to educate boaters on safe practices. Alcohol remains the leading cause of serious boating accidents, and boaters are urged to avoid its use while on the water.  The St. Augustine Record
