Good morning, St. Augustine.

YouTube stars Ryan Trahan and Haley Pham visited St. Augustine as part of their 50 states in 50 days challenge to raise funds for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital — they stayed at the Prince Road Container House Airbnb, a unique home with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and later drove to Daytona Beach as part of a challenge to run out of gas before checking in. The pair have raised over $5 million and continue their journey across the states on Day 36.

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office and police in St. Augustine and St. Augustine Beach are joining Operation Southern Slow Down, a campaign to curb speeding and aggressive driving that began on July 14 and will run until July 19.

The enforcement effort follows data showing speeding accounted for 13% of Florida's 2023 traffic deaths—state and local agencies are collaborating with partners in Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee to enhance road safety.

Federal budget cuts to the NOAA Hurricane Hunter program may reduce flights that gather key weather data (which is used to improve hurricane forecasts) and could weaken Florida’s warning systems.

Lawmakers are considering a bill (aimed at restoring essential staffing) that could protect the program’s future capabilities.
