  • Tropical Storm Dexter is expected to keep strengthening and could near hurricane strength within 48 hours—forecast models show wind speeds reaching 70 mph while rough surf and a moderate risk for rip currents continue along the Atlantic coast.  The St. Augustine Record

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Parents in St. Johns County have raised concerns over heavy traffic and student safety near Shearwater as construction on County Road 210 disrupts the start of school. County officials say the 2.3-mile widening project is set to finish in summer 2026—while two lanes at the Shearwater entrance will reopen in fall and local agencies coordinate to manage increased school traffic.  First Coast News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Florida has no current outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease but sees hundreds of cases each year mostly between August and October — cases caused by breathing in water droplets that carry the bacteria.
