  • Tropical Storm Erin is forecast to become a major hurricane this weekend as it moves near the northern Leeward Islands—dangerous swells and rip current hazards are expected along East Coast beaches. The National Hurricane Center said gradual strengthening will occur today and Saturday while a low pressure system in the Gulf is tracked for possible development.  The St. Augustine Record
