- ➤ A swimmer in distress at St. Augustine Inlet was rescued at 6:30 p.m. on August 16 by St. Johns County Fire Rescue, Marine Rescue, and local police—officials said the swimmer was uninjured despite strong tidal currents. First Coast News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Hurricane Erin is a Category 3 storm with winds of 125 mph and is moving west-northwest—its growing size is forecast to cause dangerous rip currents and high surf along Florida’s coast from today until Aug. 21.
