- ➤ Today, several First Coast communities will mark the 9/11 anniversary with events to honor nearly 3,000 lives lost; in St. Augustine, the annual remembrance ceremony will feature a multi-agency honor guard and local leaders' remarks at (101 Malaga St.) at (8:30 a.m.). First Coast News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Florida has been spared major hurricanes so far but experts say conditions will become more favorable later this month for tropical activity. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30—forecasters project up to 18 named storms during its peak period. The St. Augustine Record
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ St. John's County Fire Rescue introduced a new medic unit in March that has already given blood transfusions to over 10 injured patients including one from a car wreck. Captain Sean Brasiel said the unit saves lives by providing advanced care at the scene — it offers point-of-care transfusions before patients reach trauma centers. First Coast News
