- ➤ The Girl Scouts have introduced a new cookie flavor called Exploremores—an innovation inspired by rocky road ice cream that will join the 2026 lineup. - ➤ Local leaders in St. Johns County expressed sorrow over the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10, stating he was a voice of conviction who respected differing views—urging a commitment to peaceful dialogue amid growing political divisions. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Eight years ago, Hurricane Irma hit the First Coast and caused heavy flooding along the St. Johns River—damage was seen in Jacksonville and in St. Augustine where an EF-2 tornado uprooted trees and harmed a historic cemetery. The storm killed 134 people and left about $70 billion in damage, and its impact is still remembered by locals. First Coast News
