Eight years ago, Hurricane Irma hit the First Coast and caused heavy flooding along the St. Johns River—damage was seen in Jacksonville and in St. Augustine where an EF-2 tornado uprooted trees and harmed a historic cemetery.
The storm killed 134 people and left about $70 billion in damage, and its impact is still remembered by locals.
