  • St. Johns County Housing Partnership is seeking volunteers to paint, clean, and repair homes for veterans, the elderly and disabled on Oct. 25 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for National Make A Difference Day—donations of paint, brushes, caulk and other supplies are also requested.  The St. Augustine Record

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Astronomical fall began on Sept. 22 when day and night were nearly equal—Florida is expected to see warm weather with scattered thunderstorms early in the month before cooler conditions set in later.  The St. Augustine Record
  • Hurricane Gabrielle is expected to reach Category 3 strength today—forecasters say it will stay well away from Florida while rough surf and rip currents may affect parts of the eastern coast later next week.  The St. Augustine Record
