  • St. Augustine will open a grant program on Oct. 1 that offers up to $3,000 for nonprofit-led neighborhood improvement projects and events—applications will be accepted until Oct. 15 at the Neighborhood Services Division office.  The St. Augustine Record

  • ULA's Atlas V rocket carrying Amazon's Project Kuiper satellites will launch today at 8:09 a.m. ET from Cape Canaveral — weather permitting, people in St. Augustine and across Florida may see the launch live.  The St. Augustine Record
  • Publix Super Markets ranked in the top 10 on USA TODAY’s list for best grocery store bakeries, showing its strong reputation for scratch-made breads and cakes—popular among loyal Florida shoppers.   • St. Johns County celebrated a historic $1M state appropriation for the Florida Black History Museum in West Augustine on Sept.18 — leaders from state and community gathered at the event to honor the milestone — as officials outlined plans for the project’s next phases.  The St. Augustine Record

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Invest 93L is forecast to become a tropical depression by Thursday and a hurricane by the weekend—likely tracking near Bermuda—while Invest 94L near Hispaniola may struggle to develop due to strong wind shear. Forecasters say the systems pose minimal risk to Florida and the Southeast, and residents should keep monitoring weather updates.  The St. Augustine Record

HEALTH NEWS

  • On Sept. 23, Florida’s state Board of Pharmacy cleared up confusion by confirming that Walgreens, Publix, and CVS can offer the FDA-approved COVID vaccine at their pharmacies — the new rules require doctor oversight. The vaccine is now available for adults 65 and older and high-risk individuals, with wider access expected after a CDC advisory panel recommendation.  The St. Augustine Record

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • A decades-old covenant is keeping the World Golf Hall of Fame land in legal limbo and may block redevelopment plans for healthcare and recreation since the restriction lasts until 2046—local business owners say the empty building hurts nearby commerce.
