- ➤ Contender, the largest male white shark tagged by OCEARCH, traveled from Florida waters to a rare spot in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, Canada—covering more than 3,200 miles since being tagged on Jan 17. He was first recorded near Fernandina Beach on Jan 26, later near St. Augustine on Feb 6, and off Cape Cod in July before reaching Canada on Sept 29. The St. Augustine Record
- ➤ Officials say a nor'easter will bring rough surf, coastal flooding and dangerous rip currents to Florida beaches over Columbus Day weekend. - ➤ St. Johns County is under a coastal flood warning as strong onshore winds and heavy downpours are raising tides to levels not seen since Hurricane Nicole, causing moderate to major flooding at high tide today.
