- ➤ The St. Johns Golf Classic—raising funds for Tunnels to Towers—will start on Nov. 6 with a free pairing party at Adamec Harley Davidson and continue on Nov. 7 at the Golf Club at South Hampton with breakfast, opening ceremonies and a shotgun start. The tournament will support veteran assistance programs and feature live music, silent auctions and family activities. The St. Augustine Record
- ➤ Habitat for Humanity of St. Augustine/St. Johns County will host a Veterans Build event from November 7 to 8, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Volusia Woods. Volunteers will help build affordable homes for veterans, military service members, and their families — everyone who wants to join is welcome. The St. Augustine Record
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Watering restrictions in Northeast Florida are now in effect, allowing homes with odd or no addresses on Saturday, even addresses on Sunday, and nonresidential properties on Tuesday from Nov. 2 through March 8—watering is limited to one hour and not allowed between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The rules aim to protect groundwater and prevent lawn damage like root rot from overwatering. - ➤ St. Johns County Commission will vote today on using conservation impact fees to raise up to $3 million a year for land preservation after LAMP funding was cut from $2 million to $500,000 (a measure designed to protect areas like Hawkins Island). Some commissioners propose a 50% fee to avoid deterring developers (a change supported by County Commissioner Christian Whitehurst). First Coast News

- ➤ Officials reported that the listeria outbreak linked to prepared pasta meals sold by retailers such as Walmart, Publix, and Trader Joe’s—recalled due to contamination—had infected 27 people across 18 states by Oct 30, with 6 deaths and 25 hospitalizations. The Centers for Disease Control advised consumers not to eat recalled meals and to seek medical help if they experience symptoms of food poisoning. The St. Augustine Record
