COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Bishop Kenny High School will host a K9 competition on Nov. 15th where law enforcement teams & their K9s from Jacksonville and the region will compete to raise funds for new equipment for agencies in Northeast Florida, with tickets costing $9 for adults and free for kids. Free parking is provided at the event.  First Coast News
  • SJC Cultural Events will host Rock the Pantries food drives at The St. Augustine Amphitheatre and Ponte Vedra Concert Hall on Nov. 14 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.—donations of nonperishable food items will support local families, seniors, and individuals in need. BUSINESS NEWS

  • On Monday morning, a judge in a Delaware bankruptcy courtroom reopened bidding for Marineland Dolphin Adventure by allowing a group of dolphin professionals to bid alongside Delightful Development and Hutson Companies—Delightful Development had bid $7.1 million, Hutson Companies $7.05 million, and Apex offered a bid equivalent to $6.5 million to preserve the park as a marine science facility. The debtor’s attorney will present the highest and best bid to the judge on Wednesday to determine the park’s future.  First Coast News
  • Today, Publix is open and offers a 10% discount on groceries to veterans and active military—this discount is available in-store while stores remain closed only on Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.  The St. Augustine Record
  • Wendy’s announced it will close about 300 underperforming stores nationwide starting later this year — Florida’s 500 locations may also face closures, though a final list has not yet been released. The move follows last year’s shutdown of 140 restaurants to boost brand performance.  The St. Augustine Record
