Good morning, St. Augustine.

A bright meteor was seen across Florida on Tuesday around 12:40 p.m., with sightings reported in Miami, Ft. Myers, Starke and St. Augustine.

Witnesses said the fireball shined in colors from blue to red and lasted between 1 and 7 seconds—an uncommon daytime event.

St. Augustine will implement safety changes for Nights of Lights to manage crowds and traffic after last year’s record turnout.

The city will add public restrooms (70 portable toilets) and pedestrian barricades (including rideshare geofencing sites) funded by an extra $851,000 from county officials to guide visitors safely.

Becca Stephens credits her service dog Bobbi with saving her life — ending ten years of addiction and PTSD — after her military service, and she now works at the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office while K9s for Warriors holds its telethon to train new service dogs and help shorten a waiting list of 350 veterans.
