Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 19th of November.
Good morning, St. Augustine.
The Father Miguel O’Reilly House Museum has opened its first 'Nativities from Around the Globe' exhibit featuring over 100 nativity artworks from Europe, Africa, and Latin America — the display is on view during the Nights of Lights season.
Run by the Sisters of St. Joseph, the exhibit celebrates cultural diversity this holiday season.
Sisters of Colleen Krause Straw, who died in 2023 after complications during a dental procedure, are speaking out after learning that another patient, Roy Estes III, died last October during an implant procedure performed by the same dentist—Dr. Francesco Sebastiani—whose license remains active despite a state complaint and recommendations for penalties from the Florida Surgeon General. Investigators and officials are still probing the case to determine accountability.
The Sandbar Pub is one of St. Augustine’s oldest dive bars—located on Crescent Beach along A1A—it has drawn locals with an outdoor deck, pool table, video games, overpoured drinks and reasonably priced food.
Owners Kevin and Joann Vaheyvok, who purchased the bar in 1987, have kept its charm with recent renovations and community events such as a Dec. 3 Fish Fry that will benefit local charities.
