If you've wanted another way to get around town, Drifters City Bike Share is set to connect downtown, West King Street and the beaches in America's oldest city. It launched with a ribbon-cutting Friday after three years of planning.
Ian Guthrie, owner of Drifters Beach and Bike Rentals, developed the program to help riders get around and steer customers to neighborhood merchants. He chose a custom design over the heavy look of big-city systems. “We want to keep it clean, classic and simple, but also very tough and dependable,” Guthrie said.

The city's program runs through local company Drifters Inc. For New York visitor Chris Cates, that's the point: “this is a city that really requires bike riding; it’s really difficult to get around,” he said.
